Android Game review: Little Big Adventure

This one was one of my very favorit early-age PC titles (next to Final Fantasy VII, ...
Master of Orion 2, Heroes of Might and Magic III, ... okehhh let's cut this...). So here is an excellent "Emu-remake" from DotEmu (The dudes that made the Android version of the Amiga hit "Another World" and the NeoGeo burner "Metal Slug").

Story rip-off
You are Twinsen. For some reasons you are hunted by nightmares while the world around you seems to get more and more corrupted by an evil dictator called "Dr. Funfrog" (I always thought his Dr. must be for beeing a Sci-Fi Pirate asshole without the good ole pirate morals). For some reason this pathetic little man is worried about you and puts you into prison. Later you will get to know that he also kidnapped your beloved girlfriend. Enough is enough! You decide to gather some ancient knowledge and all the cool artifacts which your family left for you. Time to kick ass and chew bubblegum!

What's the game about?
Basically it's a mix. You could call Little Big Adventure a RPG-2D-3D-Jump'N'Run-Adventure. DANG! You play Twinsen from the bird view. You can switch between 4 mo(o)des: Modus operandi, Kick Ass mode, Run as hell mode and the Stealth mode. They differ in Twinsens actions when you hit the action bar. In the normal mode you can interact with things and persons. While Twinsen is in an aggressive mood you can kick stuff and enemies around. In the sporty mode you can run and jump and in the stealth mode you can hide and dodge from enemies.
Chose a way to advance the situations
Fortunatly your family was a bunch of mages or something like that and left you cool artefacts which enable you to do cool tricks. You will learn to throw magical spheres, sail boats, fly with hair dryers (YES) and the standard: dragons. You will come through dungeons, deserts and other very cold regions.

He was like "Il Che" of LBA to me. Cool dude.

This one really rocked the flute!

Upshot
Can't say much. There is still a lot of nostalgia around when I think of LBA (also called "Relentless" and "Twinsen's Odyssey" back then). It was the top notch on graphic, sound, athmospherical elements and had a very innovative gameplay. Picking it up almost 20 years after it's first release I didn't feel much diffrent. I love the story and the strange characters. The puzzle aspects are okay, the jump and run factor is there and to that you get a little bit of RPG and Adventure aspects. You should give it a try if you are looking for a neat game that will entertain you for some days.
